The King's Bespoke

Found this place on google in June 2023 when I was searching for a heart-shaped ruby engagement ring. Was a bit confusing at first as the place shares the same location as the gem museum (the museum area is mainly on the 1st floor while the jewelry stuff and appointments are on the 3rd floor). This was the 4th place we visited and Kunming recommended this yet-to-be-certified unheated triangular ruby with fantastic fluorescence at a pretty good price. The ruby was later found out to be heated during the certification process but Kunming had great service recovery. The complimentary certification is done by their in-house lab (Kunming did say he could send it for overseas appraisal for a fee). I also kind of regret not asking to see the ruby in other lighting conditions, cos it does have a tendency to look dark under some lighting conditions. As for the ring part, I requested that the split shank be designed in such a way that the it looks like two rings intertwined, and the goldsmith managed to engrave the bottom and arrange the top to achieve the look. The workmanship looks great. It was also nice to find out that the ring was hand-forged in Singapore rather than being outsourced overseas to be casted. Seems like forging the ring locally can reduce the leadtime (I was quoted 3 weeks, although it took longer since I wasn't in a rush) and mixed metal designs are also possible. Overall, I'm very happy with the ring. It doesn't sparkle like most gems, and it goes to sleep when the light is bad, but it does glow rather nicely in the sun (or under UV light). I enjoyed visiting the gem museum before & after the appointments too (it's free, and there are lots of specimens to see). This place has a large variety of gems at different pricepoints and is definitely worth consideration if you're looking to buy coloured gemstones.

Their alex gems have good color change and are priced reasonably per carat compared to more commercial competitors that you see advertising around Instagram. Kristina is very kind and helpful. She assisted me in creating my alex engagement ring. The process was seamless and the ring looks superb. Really one of a kind! Thanks!
