Took up professional bridal makeup & hairstyling course with Amanda. Love attending her lessons. She is patient, fun, and someone who wants the best for her student. As long you are willing to learn, she is willing to teach. She always goes the extra mile to ensure her students understand her lessons. Eg. Most of the lesson she will go beyond 3 hours just to ensure we understand the lesson. She will also answer all of our questions and let us know the areas to take note individually. She has also offered us the opportunities to experience and learn on-site. I have really learnt a lot from this course and definitely have no regrets taking up this course. Highly recommended to learn from her! ❤️

Amanda’s beginner makeup and hairstyling course was one of my best decisions in 2020! Lessons take place in her studio at Ubi, which is brightly lit and cozy (and always well stocked with drinks and snacks 😂). Amanda herself was very patient when i was enquiring about the course and asked many questions; she answered them all in full and very quickly. This gave me confidence that i would be in good hands. Classes were always rigorous and demanding, but with good reason. Amanda explained and demonstrated techniques with great attention to detail, and it was these details that would make a big difference in the quality of the end product. Amanda really teaches from the heart and she genuinely wants her students to learn and master all that she has learned from her 17 years of makeup and hair experience. When we don’t understand, she will explain and demo over and over again. During class she even shows us common mistakes and teaches us how to fix them. In terms of putting together your makeup and hair tools kit, Amanda gave us detailed explanations of each product type and their functions. She has a plethora of tried and tested recommendations so that you dont waste money buying the wrong things. She has an amazing teaching assistant Charlotte, who guides us patiently on fixing any mistakes. In a class of 5-6 students, having 2 teachers was great as we all got the guidance and attention we needed. Both Amanda and Charlotte gave us their time above and beyond the slated time slots of the course. When we took long to finish our practical classwork, sometimes dragging close to midnight (when class is supposed to end at 10pm), both teachers did not compromise on the quality of our work nor rushed us to finish quickly or skip steps so that they could get home sooner. They continued to guide us patiently, even if we had to redo and redo some things, until we learned the right techniques. I believe all the students in the class appreciated this tremendously. While Amanda’s studio and class provides us with a friendly and welcoming environment to start learning, she pushes us to get out into the real world by practicing on many different types of faces, skintones, skin types, hair types and hair colours, so that we will learn to deal with many situations and crises that might occur in real life and be well prepared to handle them. This course prepares you very well for the real world and while it was extremely tiring, I am grateful for this. Amanda requires high commitments of time and effort from her students to complete the course, but she puts in an equal amount of time and effort into teaching us and grading our extra assignments and practices. She would always reply with feedback when we sent her pictures of our work. Even after the course ends, Amanda and her team offer on-the-job training experiences when they work on real brides and bridal parties. As a student, I personally felt i gained so much more out of this course than the syllabus describes. In summary, this beginner makeup and hair course was challenging but also incredibly rewarding. I feel really lucky to have stumbled upon Amanda’s course and would do this over again in a heartbeat. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Amanda and Charlotte for building and executing this amazing course. I recommend both teachers 200% for anyone who is looking to become a makeup artist!!

I was quite worried about my hairstyle as what I had asked for could have more suitable for a short photoshoot rather than an outdoor solemnisation/wedding (I’m constantly on the move, sweating, humid) and I was so concerned that it would come undone/lose the curls. But she reassured me that she could do it and I did not need to change my ideal wedding look. And it looked great! It was natural and flowy, exactly what I asked for. The volume and curls of the hairdo lasted throughout dinner. Makeup wise, I left it up to her to style my look based on my gowns and colour scheme. She did a fantastic job in choosing and matching the colors of my eye makeup, blusher and lips. The look was so balanced and natural. The makeup lasted well, did not smudge and survived my tears. I received so many compliments throughout the day. Working with her was a great experience as she was friendly, responsive and responsible. thank you so much for making me beautiful!
